123Sonography is a leading provider of online training in echocardiography and medical ultrasound. Founded in 2010 by Prof. Thomas Binder, MD, FESC, of the Medical University of Vienna, the company reports having trained more than 400,000 physicians and sonographers across over 175 countries.
Its video-based, self-paced courses help clinicians develop their ultrasound skills, with PDF diplomas on completion and CME credits available for eligible courses.
A visitor discovers a course. A customer purchases access. A learner returns to the teaching material. Behind those moments sit content, accounts, commerce and the systems used by the business.
The platform must support that whole journey. SDEV’s long-term role connects development with hosting, maintenance and integrations, so improvements account for both learners and the team running the business.

SDEV brought SonoAssistant into Drupal, connecting educational knowledge, validated media, learner access, conversation history and editorial workflows.

How SDEV built semantic course discovery for 123Sonography with Drupal, lecture-level search, campaign-aware ranking and explained recommendations.

Drupal, AI and business integrations
Drupal brings course content, learner accounts, access and multi-currency purchasing together. SDEV connects this foundation with Chargebee billing and Zoho CRM, so the public website and business workflows can operate as parts of one platform.
SonoAssistant and Smart Search use OpenAI and Pinecone for model tasks and retrieval. Drupal retains the platform rules: validating media and access for the assistant, and checking course eligibility for search recommendations.
Matomo and GA4 support reporting. Hosting, maintenance and continuing integration work keep responsibility for the system in place as new capabilities are added.
